Certified Addiction & Aftercare Services (CAAS Coaching), a division of Nine Seconds Corporation (a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization), is committed to protecting the privacy and dignity of every client we serve. We recognize that confidentiality is the foundation of trust, and we uphold the highest ethical and professional standards in safeguarding the information shared with us.

Our Ethical Commitment

All information shared in coaching sessions, assessments, intake forms, or related communications is considered confidential.

We will not release client information without explicit written consent, except under the circumstances outlined below.

We store all records securely and restrict access only to authorized personnel directly involved in the client’s care.

We are committed to transparency and will always discuss the scope and limits of confidentiality with clients at the beginning of services.

When Confidentiality Must Be Broken

While confidentiality is central to our services, there are specific situations where we are ethically and legally required to disclose information without consent. These include:

Imminent Harm to Self or Others: If a client expresses intent to harm themselves or others, we are required to take appropriate action to ensure safety.

Abuse, Neglect, or Exploitation: As mandatory reporters, we must report suspected or confirmed abuse, neglect, or exploitation of: Minors (under the age of 18) Elderly individuals Vulnerable adults

Court Orders or Legal Mandates: If we receive a valid court order, subpoena, or other legal directive, we may be legally required to release information.

Medical or Safety Emergencies: In situations where disclosure is necessary to protect the life or health of the client or others.

Mandatory Reporter Role

As professionals providing trauma-informed addiction and aftercare coaching, CAAS Coaching staff are mandatory reporters under state and federal law.

This means:

We are legally obligated to report suspected abuse, neglect, or exploitation to the appropriate authorities.

Mandatory reporting is not optional and cannot be waived by client consent.

Our duty to protect vulnerable individuals overrides our obligation to maintain confidentiality in these circumstances.

Client Rights and Transparency

Clients have the right to know what information is being collected, how it will be used, and under what conditions it may be shared.

Clients may request access to their records, and corrections will be made if information is found to be inaccurate.

Clients will be informed whenever possible if confidentiality must be broken, except in situations where doing so may increase risk of harm.
